HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is a document formatting system. Special markers, called tags, are placed into a file of plain ASCII text to describe to an HTML browser program such as Netscape how to display the text.

HTML provides so much more than just a text display capability, however. Using HTML you can link to other documents, other places in the same document and even display graphics!


What You Need To Start

  1. First, you'll need a microcomputer system with at least 4MB of memory running Windows 3.1 or above.
  2. Second, you must have installed Trumpet Winsock and an HTML browser, such as Netscape.
  3. Third, a graphics program capable of creating and manipulating GIF format files is useful if you want to include your own graphics.
  4. Finally, any ASCII text editor, such as the DOS EDIT program or Windows Notepad, to create the HTML document.
